Case Study: Hitting Leagues
K-Zone Academy, Apex, NC
Along with utilizing HitTrax to enhance player development, K-Zone Academy in Apex, NC has also benefited from the system’s entertainment capabilities by organizing hitting leagues with the HitTrax Gaming Module. Over the course of the first year, K-Zone successfully organized 10 different leagues of varying age groups. Multiple leagues typically run simultaneously during the week to accommodate the high level of interest. The result is an increase in foot traffic within the facility and, more importantly, a higher revenue rate per hour for the tunnel.

This case study highlights a 3 month period during the peak of the indoor season. During this time, 3 independent leagues were coordinated covering 3 different age groups.
- 7 week regular season with each team playing (2) games every Saturday afternoon
- 6 inning games limited to 25 minutes per game
- 6 teams totaling 25 players at $99 per player
- Playoff and Championship game played on 8th week followed by HR Derby and All-Star contest
- Produced revenue of $2,475

HitTrax Leaderboard
“The HitTrax System has definitely provided a spark to our training environment and has opened an entirely new revenue stream for our business,” Owner, Dan Kopitzke comments. “We have 30+ players and family members in our facility multiple nights per week cheering on the teams. Dan adds, “The added benefit for the players is that they get 10-15 at bats per game against a live pitcher throwing a mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches. This equates to 2-3 times as many at bats as a typical outdoor spring season.”
- Provide team and players with leaderboards and individual stats. Promote players by emailing leaderboards to facility’s email list.
- Place league standings, leaderboards, and pictures on your website for further promotion of the league.
- Update your email database with brief recaps of games. This will help generate awareness from those players not participating in the league and increase the number of players in your next league as a result.

Exciting win last night as the Heat overcame an early deficit to beat the Blue Wave 7 to 5. Nick Reynolds drove in 4 runs, including the game winner in the 8th inning to secure the victory. The win moves the Heat into a first place tie with the Ravens with only two weeks remaining in the season. - Immerse players (and spectators) by adding single or multiple large monitors or projection screens alongside the tunnel. Like your big screen at home, larger images are more impressive.
- Award prizes (batting gloves, bats, etc.) to the league champions and home run derby winner.
