What is it really like to own a HitTrax Home? We recently sat down with one of our customers to find out. This HitTrax Home owner built their dream indoor batting cage to keep young athletes engaged year-round. Along the way, they’ve seen improvements in game-day confidence, player development, and even created a space for friendly competition among family and friends. Read on to hear firsthand why they chose HitTrax Home, how they use it, and the results they’ve seen since bringing it home.

- How did you first hear about the HitTrax home?
We first experienced HitTrax at a training facility called Hops in Coventry, Rhode Island. After using it, we knew we wanted something similar in our own home. What stood out to us was the quality of the equipment, the programming, and the gaming experience. Having a HitTrax Home has been a huge factor in keeping our kids engaged, motivated, and excited about baseball. It gives them a fun way to train on their own, and without it, we’re not sure they would be getting as much independent practice. The results have been noticeable. They’ve trained much more consistently this year, and it’s carried over into their performance on the field. Both of their hitting has improved, and they’re having more competitive at-bats during games. With HitTrax, they’re able to get a lot more swings in, compete against themselves and each other, and immediately see the outcome of every hit—whether it’s a single, double, triple, or home run. Being able to turn on the boost and launch home runs at Fenway Park was also a huge selling point for us. It combines training and entertainment in a way that keeps them coming back for more.
2. Did you notice that there was a big difference between the HitTrax Pro and the HitTrax Home?
Honestly, there isn’t a huge difference between the two. The biggest distinction is the number of player profiles you can create. With HitTrax Home, you can have up to four profiles and enjoy unlimited play. For us, that’s perfect—we have profiles for our two kids, and their two close friends each have their own as well. The HitTrax Pro, on the other hand, allows for significantly more profiles—up to 100, I believe—which makes it a better fit for teams, training facilities, or larger groups of players. Other than that, the software is essentially the same. Both systems offer the same features, games, and training tools, so users get the full HitTrax experience regardless of which version they choose.
3. What was your vision with this cage?
When we built this cage, the vision was really centered around the kids. I coached the Smithfield 10U All-Star team, and we had a very close-knit group of players, parents, and coaches. Everyone got along, and we felt like this group had the potential to accomplish something special if they put in the extra work. We started with just an empty garage and a dirt floor. The plan from the beginning was to eventually add a HitTrax simulator, but before that, the kids were already in here getting swings and putting in the work. At the end of the 11U All-Star season, we finally added HitTrax, and that same year the team went on to win the district championship and advance further in tournament play.
Originally, this space was intended for friends, close teammates, and family members. But since adding HitTrax, it’s grown into much more than that. We now have players from Smithfield, La Salle, Hendricken, and other local programs training here. We also run lessons out of the facility, and it’s become a place where more athletes can come together to work on their game. It’s been incredible to see how much it’s grown. What started as a simple training space for a small group of kids has turned into a facility that’s helping more players develop and enjoy the game. We have people in here probably six or seven days a week, until about 10 o’clock at night.

4. Have you ever used the HitTrax Home with any of your friends?
Absolutely. Once the boys finish their training sessions, a lot of us dads and older guys jump in and use it too. We all still play baseball, so it quickly turns into a friendly competition. We’ll compare exit velocities, see who can hit the ball the farthest, and challenge each other in the games. Someone will say, “You hit 96 mph? I’m getting to 100,” and then everyone starts trying to top each other. It’s a lot of fun and adds another level of competition to the experience. That’s one of the things we love about HitTrax—it isn’t just for training. It brings people together, whether it’s the kids working on their game or the adults having some fun and competing with each other.
5. Do you think it’s improved both of your sons’ game?
Dramatically. Being able to hit off a pitching machine during the winter is one thing, but the real difference comes when game season starts. If you’re facing a pitcher throwing 80 mph, it doesn’t look nearly as fast when you’ve spent the entire offseason seeing 90 mph in the cage. That’s been a huge advantage for our kids. Not only are they getting quality reps, but with HitTrax they’re also getting immediate feedback. They can see their exit velocity, how far the ball traveled, and whether it would have been a hit, an out, or even a home run. That information helps them understand what good contact really looks like. The biggest impact, though, has been confidence. When my oldest first moved to the big field, it was tough for him to hit the ball hard enough to consistently reach the outfield or get on base. As he’s grown and continued training, he’s learned what solid barrel contact feels like and where he needs to hit the ball to be successful. Now, those line drives and singles up the middle come much more naturally. HitTrax has helped bridge the gap between practice and game performance by giving them both the reps and the confidence they need to succeed.

6. What was your experience like working with the HitTrax staff?
Honestly, the customer support has been unmatched. We were fortunate that HitTrax is a local company for us. While they’re a nationwide brand, their team is based right here in Rhode Island, just a few towns away. When I expressed interest in adding HitTrax to our facility, they were incredibly responsive and eager to help. They came out quickly, walked us through the process, and helped us move forward every step of the way. Since then, the support has continued to be outstanding. Any time we’ve had a question, we’ve received a response right away, often with a phone call back the very same day. It’s been a great experience from start to finish and knowing that support is always just a call away has made a big difference.
7. Would you recommend the HitTrax Home to other people? Was it a difficult process to get everything set up?
I would absolutely recommend HitTrax Home. It’s been a great investment for our family, and it’s made a huge impact on how much the kids train and enjoy the game. I would also highly recommend the overhead-mounted HitTrax setup. Having the system mounted above the hitting area keeps it out of the way of the netting and cage, creating a clean and professional-looking setup. The installation process was surprisingly easy. HitTrax provided all the specifications we needed ahead of time, and once we had the wiring and other requirements in place, their team came out and handled the installation. They had everything up and running in a single day. From the product itself to the installation and support, the entire experience has been smooth and professional.

8. How did you view the price of Hittrax Home? Was it an investment? Did you feel like it paid off?
When you compare the cost of HitTrax Home to private lessons and other training options, it’s actually a very affordable investment. In our experience, one offseason of consistent use can provide tremendous value and easily justify the cost. What makes HitTrax different is that athletes can train whenever they want, get more quality reps, and receive instant feedback on every swing. It’s like having a training tool and performance data system available at home whenever you need it. For players looking to improve their hitting, HitTrax is definitely a step up. It provides a level of feedback, engagement, and consistency that can be difficult to achieve through traditional training alone.
